Universal & Nintendo Announce a Super Partnership

Drop what you’re doing, pop the champagne and try not to faint out of excitement—Universal has officially announced their plan to bring the world of Nintendo to life at Universal theme parks.

That’s right, one of the most prolific video game creators of all time is coming together with one of the best storytelling giants in the world… the result is bound to be nothing short of epic!

If we take a look at Universal’s history, it’s clear that they aren’t afraid of taking an aggressive stance when it comes to expanding their already incredibly popular theme parks. Since inception, they’ve managed to build quite an impressive list of attractions—the most recent being the well-received Wizarding World of Harry Potter™ at Universal Orlando.

And we think it’s safe to assume that the addition of Nintendo characters and rides could make for an even bigger splash than any of Universal’s other undertakings! Especially if you consider that Nintendo’s mascot, Mario, is right up there with Mickey Mouse in terms of wide-spread recognition.

A Nintendo Theme Park

With this new partnership, Universal is scheduled to create spectacular, dedicated experiences based on Nintendo’s wildly popular games, characters and worlds—from Super Mario Bros to Pokémon, to The Legend of Zelda and Donkey Kong. As of right now, there have been no reports as to which parks (Universal has parks in Orlando, Hollywood, Japan and Singapore) or what characters will be featured. But, fans are already having a blast speculating what the new park will contain.

Universal OrlandoMany fans believe the popular Wii U game Nintendo Land would be a great blueprint for a park experience, while others are already running wild with their own ideas, like a haunted house journey through Bowser’s Castle, or a “Legend of Zelda” themed restaurant. Either way, the Nintendo universe is overflowing with so many possibilities there’s no shortage of attractions to be built.

If you aren’t a Nintendo super fan madly overcome with childhood nostalgia, don’t worry! Just like Super Mario Bros., the new attraction will be something everyone can enjoy, not just diehard gamers. That’s not to say, though, that we don’t highly recommend getting into the Nintendo spirit before it makes its way to Universal® theme parks. Trust us, you’ll be glad you did!

Stay tuned for more Nintendo news! We’ll make updates as they become available. And if you’re looking for the perfect Universal vacation package, we’ve got all the details.
