It’s no secret that Pigeon Forge is steeped in good ol’ fashioned family fun. Some of the most popular forms of entertainment in the Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg area are dinner theaters. In case you were unaware, dinner and a show make for a great evening of entertainment. It’s also a great way to spend some time in the Smoky Mountains.
There are about half a dozen dinner theaters on the Pigeon Forge Parkway alone, with even more on the offshoot roads.
All of the Pigeon Forge dinner theaters have different family friendly themes, most with southern overtones. The Comedy Barn Dinner Theater offers stand up, group skits and many other attractions. Dolly Parton’s Dixie Stampede brings rodeo shows along with Country and Bluegrass music to the table.
For something a little bit less country, there’s The Great Smoky Mountain Murder Mystery Dinner Show, which offers a variety of hilarious shows themed around classic sitcoms and movies.
If the critics are to be believed, however, the best show in all of Pigeon Forge —awarded for seven years straight—is the Smith Family Dinner Theater, which not only does comedy and musicals, but has top-of-the-line live bands.
Menus at Pigeon Forge dinner shows vary from venue to venue, but you can be sure to find a plethora of great southern cuisine at any location. Plus, due to the heavy competition in the area, you will get plenty of bang for your buck, with special deals prevalent at most dinner theaters. Kids often eat and/or watch the show for free, with a paying adult.
Most venues have two shows: one in the early evening and another at night. But more and more are starting to do lunch and breakfast performances as well. Almost every venue also has plenty of other things to see and do before or after a show, and often within walking distance, so the fun doesn’t stop or start with the show.
The next time you plan a vacation or just a quick visit to Pigeon Forge or Gatlinburg, be sure to schedule a few hours in one of the area’s entertainment staples. You can be sure that any one of the fantastic shows will not disappoint in the least. So pick one, or a few, and plan on enjoying these Pigeon Forge dinner shows during your next vacation to the Smoky Mountains.
