On your next Charleston vacation with Bluegreen, you won’t be able to resist eating dinner at the award winning Italian inspired, Oak Steakhouse. Located downtown on Broad Street, this popular dining establishment is situated in a 150-year-old former bank. From the moment you step up and see inside this grand building, filled with large arched windows lined with curtains, you are sure to be impressed.
The award-winning Oak Steakhouse, in the heart of downtown Charleston, serves sumptuous steaks and fresh seafood.
What makes this spot standout is that you can have an intimate and quiet evening with your spouse on one of the two upstairs levels, surrounded by dim lighting and elegant light fixtures. Or for a more casual fine dining experience, guests can stick to the bar area or dining room, featuring plenty of booths, along with white table cloth and candle-filled tables. Relax and admire the décor, which includes exposed brick walls, pine floors, high ceilings and illuminated artwork spread throughout the restaurant, while you dine on top-notch local food.
Chef De Cuisine Joseph Jacobson and newcomer Executive Chef Jeremiah Bacon have recently changed up the menu. They wanted to show more of a focus on using locally sourced seafood, dairy and produce. The updated menu provides for a satisfying meal and a memorable dining experience, all while utilizing local ingredients.
Start off your meal with the provided rolls and butter and choose a specialty cocktail or glass of wine from their extensive list. Then savor some steakhouse favorites like shrimp cocktail, beef carpaccio, or the steak tartare, which is specially prepared with Cornichons, capers, shallots and a horseradish remoulade. Enjoy a classic salad such as the chopped salad, Caesar or wedge, or go for the Arugula and Frisee Winter Salad. This dish features cipollini onions, dried cranberries and shiitake mushrooms tossed in a candied garlic vinaigrette. But what really gets guests excited is the rich and flavorful Lobster and Shrimp Macaroni and Cheese appetizer.
Diners will also have trouble choosing from all the delicious entrée selections. For those who love their seafood, lobster, crab cakes, and the Sautéed Golden Tile Fish aim to please. The Wild Mushroom Risotto is also tasty, featuring a plethora of pungent Shiitake, Button, Oyster and Crimini Mushrooms, along with Parmigiano-Reggiano, all with a boost of flavor from White Truffle Oil.
Carnivores will rejoice at Oak Steakhouse because of their many beef options cooked to your liking, served with a choice of Hollandaise, Sauce Bordelaise, Béarnaise Sauce or Gorgonzola Cream Sauce. They pride themselves on serving sizzling wood-fired Certified Angus Beef, with options including the 10-ounce Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon, the hearty 24-ounce Bone-in Rib-Eye and Beef Shortribs. Many judge a restaurant based on whether they serve the best burger and Oak Steakhouse delivers on this as well. Their Oak Steakhouse “Foie” Burger features 12 ounces of finely ground NY Strip, Beef Tenderloin and Rib-Eye which are formed into patties and stuffed with decadent Hudson Valley Foie Gras. Next the burger is topped with grilled onions, micro arugula sprouts and Fontina cheese, all on a Brioche Bun with a side of fries.
Another winning dish on the menu includes the “Bistro Cut” Beef Tenderloin, which marries together two amazing concepts. The dish features not just tender meat but it is served with a Burden Creek Dairy Goat Cheese Fondue and truffled Pomme Frites as well. Or, an additional option for those whose love their beef with a southern twist is the seasoned Cajun Blackened Prime New York Strip steak with a Creole Crawfish Compound Butter.
To accompany your entrees, share some luscious sides like whipped potatoes or Savory Marrow Bread Pudding. Also a perfect accompaniment to a succulent cut of beef, sides are offered like French Fried Onions and Roasted Mushrooms to name a few. And to end the meal with dessert, go for another steakhouse favorite, crème brulee, with its crisp and caramelized sugar shell and smooth and creamy custard filling.
You too can enjoy the Oak Steakhouse’s simple, sophisticated cuisine and elegant atmosphere. The tasty food and impeccable service makes this a favorite in the area. The restaurant is located just blocks away and less than one mile from the Lodge Alley Inn.
