When you need a break after a long day of exploring Hershey, have a hearty Italian meal at Fenicci’s. Located downtown on West Chocolate Avenue, this local eatery offers a cozy atmosphere to diners of all ages, along with a bar area for adults to feast on authentic Italian classics, washed down with wine.
The History and Pride of Fenicci’s
There are years of history behind this local legend. The building Fenicci’s of Hershey sits at, was originally built in 1921 and had a variety of businesses located there. From jewelry stores, to grocery markets, to even a candy company, it wasn’t opened as a restaurant until the DeAngelis Restaurant was established in 1935. Then it was later changed to Fenicci’s in 1988.
DeAngelis was loved by the locals for their traditional family style portions of Italian and American cuisine, and Fenicci’s prides themselves on keeping the traditions of its predecessor alive. Diners can still eat many of the food options that were served then. Many of the recipes from DeAngelis have even been passed along to Fenicci’s, including their signature upside down pizza. They have expanded the restaurant throughout the years and even renovated the bar area, but kept the family-friendly, laid back atmosphere, with a menu filled with tasty Italian cuisine, intact.
What To Eat At Fenicci’s
Fenicci’s menu features appetizers, soups, salads, pasta, steaks, seafood, sandwiches, pizza and Stromboli, and more. You can order a meal for yourself or instead order their larger portions, which feed 6 people or more, to share with family and friends, at this no frills restaurant, with an old fashioned feel to it. It is the kind of place you can get chicken or eggplant parm, spaghetti with meatballs, or try something different like their Mediterranean Seafood, featuring shrimp, scallops, crab, olives, sun-dried tomatoes and garlic, in a feta cheese sauce over fettuccine.
What is also convenient about Fenicci’s is that they are open late, so if you have a long activity packed day on your trip, you can still pop in there for cuisine off their late-night menu. Keep in mind, if you have a group of 6 or more people, and want to do a family style meal, as noted above, they do require advance notice, and can provide options for a three course dinner. They are located just over a mile and a few minutes drive from The Suites at Hershey.
