In case the kids haven’t already told you, there have been exciting changes in the Magic Kingdom. The New Fantasyland is bigger and better.
Your next visit to the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Orlando will bring new surprises. The recently expanded New Fantasyland now features two new main attractions. The interactive Enchanted Forest sweeps visitors into the worlds of “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid.” The Storybook Circus combines circus themes with new rides for “Dumbo the Flying Elephant” and “The Great Goofini.”
If the kids haven’t heard about what’s new at Disney, let them stay blissfully ignorant. And when you take them on summer vacation to The Fountains or Orlando’s Sunshine Resort I & II, knock their socks off with a surprise trip.
The Enchanted Forest
In Enchanted Tales With Belle, you’ll find yourself in the French country cottage home of Belle and her father in the film “Beauty and the Beast.” Start in Maurice’s workshop and then step through a magical mirror into the Beast’s library. There you’ll meet Belle and Lumiere (the candelabra) and enjoy watching kids role-play simple parts within the story.
For a great new ride with a musical theme, take the Under the Sea—Journey of the Little Mermaid and ride around in a giant clamshell. You’ll experience all of Ariel, Flounder, and Ursula’s adventures, both under the sea and above! Special effects using lighting and temperature change make you feel as though you’re actually underwater in Ariel’s world. The movie’s musical score follows you through the ride as everyone sings along.
When the kids feel hungry, there is a delicious, French-themed restaurant in the Enchanted Forest. Follow a stone bridge to Be Our Guest in the heart of Beast’s castle. Or try Gaston’s Tavern, a lodge-style eatery with antler light fixtures and hunting trophies and serving pup fare.
Dumbo The Flying Elephant gets a makeover at the Storybook Circus, with a new twist on this favorite ride. Visitors no longer wait in line, but enter an interactive play area (based on the big top in the 1942 movie). Kids can play on slides, climb nets and play interactive games. The ride itself has been expanded to two carousels and has a lighted water theme at its base, which adds sparkle at nighttime.
The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini is the successor to The Barnstormer at Goofy’s Wiseacre Farm. Visitors ride on Goofy’s crop duster and a fast but fun mini coaster that will keep your youngest thrilled but not too scared.
New Fantasyland is bigger and better but still conveniently close to your Bluegreen resort.
