Race in the Myrtle Beach Marathon!

Myrtle Beach Marathon Runners

The 19th annual Myrtle Beach Marathon, sponsored by MyrtleBeach.com, is set to take place on March 3, 2016. So, lace up your sneakers and get ready to participate in the biggest fitness event of the year. This seven-hour race promises to be one of the most exciting things to do while vacationing in Myrtle Beach.

This fast, flat course winds its way along the Grand Strand and up the streets past the Atlantic Ocean. The picturesque beauty of this popular beach town is an idyllic setting for both runners and spectators to enjoy during their Myrtle Beach vacations.

On Your Mark, Get Set, GO!

The race begins just north of the intersection of Robert M. Grissom Parkway before heading south toward the Myrtle Beach International Airport. After a quick turn, the racers run into the Market Common Area, the halfway point in the race. Those who choose to run a half marathon will end their race here. Marathoners who elect to go the distance will keep running, making their way into the center of downtown past the magnificent SkyWheel.

With the course wearing on, runners begin to enter the scenic area known as “Golden Mile” and “Cabana District” where majestic motels and resorts rise up and tower above the glorious golden sands of the Grand Strand. With only a few more miles to go, runners enter the home stretch en route to the Myrtle Beach Marathon finish line at TicketReturn.com Field, the home of Myrtle Beach Pelicans—a Class A Advanced Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. If you love to race and have the stamina, you should definitely put this on your to-do-list of Myrtle Beach vacation activities. You can even use your qualifying time for races like the Boston Marathon.
