Downtown Disney is expected to double in size as it transforms into Disney Springs. And the park has decided to roll out its new shops, restaurants and other venues in phases starting in 2015. One of the first restaurants to make its debut is Morimoto Asia—a unique dining experience created by Chef Masaharu Morimoto, of Iron Chef America. The two-story restaurant features private rooms, open terraces, waterside seating and more!
Another restaurant set to unveil at Disney Springs in 2015 is STK Orlando. This Kardashian-approved restaurant takes fine dining to a new level. It blends a modern steakhouse appeal with a chic lounge vibe that encourages guests to interact and mingle. It’s the only rooftop-dining venue in Disney Springs and is always equipped with a live DJ.
The restaurant, which had its soft opening in April 2015, has three bars—The Captain’s Raw Bar, The Admiral’s Club Bar and The Dock Bar, which is built over the water. Additionally there is live music and guided romantic water taxi tours with champagne toasts and chocolate-covered strawberries. Or experience the unique Amphicar tour, which launches from land into the water, for a 20-minute tour of Disney Springs.
A star-studded lineup of top-notch entertainment is hitting the Dr. Philips Center for the Performing Arts this year for its opening season. The variety of talent is spectacular—from Broadway productions like Disney’s Beauty and the Beast and Pippin to musical concerts by John Mellancamp, Jason Mraz and Idina Menzel to comedy routines from Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno and Bill Maher. All of which will complement an ongoing Jazz Roots series and Orlando Ballet season.
I-Drive’s newest entertainment complex is breaking out the big guns with its lively mixture of attractions, restaurants, clubs and shops. And at the center of it all is a 400-foot-tall observation wheel—The Orlando Eye. Riders will be enclosed comfortably in air-conditioned glass capsules as they enjoy stunning views of Central Florida in all directions. The complex is also home to world-famous Madame Tussauds wax museum, SEA LIFE Aquarium, and an equally exciting line-up of restaurants and shops!
As the first ever U.S. location, Escapology Orlando is a rare dose of entertainment and fun. You work in teams of six and are tasked with finding clues, solving puzzles and ultimately finding the key to escape whichever challenge you are in. But the catch is… you only have 60 minutes to do it! Talk about fun AND stimulating—this family attraction is perfect for any vacation! But, do you have what it takes?
Perfect for the younger members of the family, this attraction supplies a full day of colorful fun! With roughly 25 hands-on activities, there’s plenty of opportunities to let your creativity run free, to play, explore, and learn. If you get hungry there is Café Crayola, and if you want a colorful souvenir or two, the Crayola Store has you covered. It’s located at the Florida Mall, so if you want to shop while your kids play, it’s just steps away.
Soccer – or as much of the world calls it, “futbol” – is a beloved international sport with a passionate following unlike any other. It’s growing popularity in the U.S. has led to the Major League Soccer’s newest expansion team—The Orlando City Soccer Club. And now, with global soccer icon, Kaká, at the helm, they will play their first MLS season at the newly rebuilt Orlando Citrus Bowl Stadium. Visitors, locals and sports fans alike will enjoy more legroom, improved broadband and Wi-Fi coverage and expanded concession with healthy and gluten-free options. Check their schedule so you can catch an exciting game on your next vacation!
Another wonderful LEGOLAND world to explore this summer. This interactive land has so much to see and do. Follow characters Mia, Olivia, Andrea, Emma and Stephanie onto the Heartlake City Express for a nice leisurely train ride, or for a little more adventure hop on the horse-themed disc coasted, Mia’s Riding Adventure. There’s also an interactive show titled ‘Friends to the Rescue’ and a new shopping mall as well.
This exotic South Beach café will bring a taste of South Florida to Central Florida. With non-stop entertainment, including live bands, unforgettable shows and professional dance showcases from International talent, you’ll feel like you’ve entered another world. There’s also an incredible selection of refreshing specialty drinks and mouthwatering eats.
