On your next Gordonsville vacation with Bluegreen resorts, take a break from exploring the wilderness and history of this Virginia town for a meal at Toliver House Restaurant. As you walk up to the property, you instantly feel as if you are visiting friends or family at their home, since the restaurant sits in a charming old Victorian style building. Once you are inside, you can relax and enjoy everything around you, including the pleasant décor featuring a fireplace, mural and antique chandelier. Guests can sit out on the enclosed porch to take in the surrounding neighborhood or bask in the sunlight inside as it pours through the large curtain lined windows.
What makes this spot unique is its rich history. In 1787 Nathaniel Gordon, the town’s first postmaster, had begun developing the area around what was to be Gordonsville. He created the Gordon Tavern and played host to many notable visitors, including Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe and Robert E. Lee. Years later, the town of Gordonsville was created in 1813 and in 1870 Toliver House was established as part of Nathaniel Gordon’s set of properties.

Whether you are looking for a casual meal and drinks or for a place to commemorate a special occasion during your Bluegreen vacation, the friendly staff can accommodate any of your needs at this cozy American eatery. What also makes Toliver House a positive place to dine, is their use of local, fresh meat and produce. It is always a plus when restaurants take pride in supporting the farmers and businesses within the region. Oftentimes, in return for a restaurant supporting local farmers and businesses, diners end up with some of the best foods and wines the area has to offer.
The affordable menu includes options for brunch, lunch and dinner. If you’re having brunch, start the day off right with their quiche that features fresh vegetables. Or have a taste of their French toast. For lunch, classic options include soups, crisp salads, burgers and sandwiches. Southern favorites such as crab cakes and fried green tomatoes or potatoes also don’t disappoint. For dinner, indulge on juicy meats including beef tenderloin or brisket, lamb chops, and pork loin.
Seafood options, like the pan-friend trout, are also flavorful. Guests may want to fill up on one of their seafood pasta dishes as well. Save room for their timeless desserts such as cheesecake or crème brulee, or cool your palate with some homemade sorbet.
On your visit, make sure to check out the chalkboard outside for any specials or restaurant updates. The Toliver House Restaurant is conveniently located on N. Main Street near W. King Street, making this a great place to dine during a Bluegreen vacation to Gordonsville. The restaurant is about 7 miles and less than 15 minutes from the Bluegreen resort,
