Get in Ship Shape and Watch the Christmas Regatta

The Saturday after Thanksgiving marks a special day for those who are in the Myrtle Beach area. No we’re not talking about shopping blowouts and turkey hangovers, we’re talking about the Annual Intracoastal Christmas Regatta. This year marks the 27th boat parade, each of which have promoted donating gifts to ensure all the Children of Horry County have a special Christmas. If you’re spending the holidays with Bluegreen at a Myrtle Beach resort, plan to attend this spectacular, and charitable, holiday event. The Intracoastal Christmas Regatta runs from Little River to Myrtle Beach. About a 20-mile stretch, the boats meander down the water alit with Christmas decorations that jump and bounce of the dark waters of the East Coast Intracoastal Waterway.  Reindeer, elves, Santas, and sleighs all seem to dance along the water, as Christmas music fills the air. It’s a fun sight to see, especially if you don’t live along the coast and don’t associate ships with entertainment vessels. So pack a dinner and bring a hot canteen for hot chocolate, pull your car up to the viewing areas, along the waterfront parks and marinas and enjoy the fun. The event will take place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. At 5 pm, at the Little River Inlet, the boats will convene and begin their journey south. By 7pm, they will arrive at Dock Holidays Marina, which is at 13th Ave. North in North Myrtle Beach. Whether you watch at the beginning spot or the end (Dock Holidays), or somewhere in between, you and your family will surely enjoy the ship show. The only thing the show asks for in return for its sailing spectacle is an unwrapped gift for the Children of Horry County. This non-prof provides presents to the kids who may not receive holiday cheer otherwise. The Children of Horry County also accepts cash donations, and goods for the local Humane Society. All four Bluegreen resorts in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach are near the parade beginning and end. Harbour Lights, and Shore Crest Vacation Villas I & II is a little ways up in North Myrtle. All of them offer comfort and space for relaxation before the show.
