The Best Beaches in Cape Cod

West Dennis on Cape Cod

Dennis offers many notable beaches on the Cape, including 16 beaches on the ocean and 2 on fresh water lakes. Located on the south side of Dennis, you will find West Dennis Beach, one of the best of the bunch, featuring everything you need for a full day of fun. There is public parking, which goes right up to the beach wall and areas on the beach designated for residents or visitors. This narrow, yet long beach, allows you to grab food at the snack bar, find a spot, and enjoy a day of sunning, relaxing, and swimming. It is family friendly and features lifeguards on duty, restrooms, and even has a playground area to enjoy with the kids. It is also well known for kite and wind surfers and is located off route 28, just a few miles and 10 minutes from the Bluegreen resorts in Dennis Port.

Coast Guard on Cape Cod

Cape-Cod-Beach-Fence Located in Eastham, Coast Guard Beach is where the Mayflower first sighted land on November 9, 1620, after a month and a half at sea, before they continued on to stop in the Provincetown area. This beach is known as one of the best on Cape Cod because not only do you have the chance to relax on smooth sand, but you will love to take in all the wildlife in the area, including birds and seals. Though the water is a bit chilly, it offers a refreshing escape from the hot summer sun. Lifeguards are on duty, so you can rest assured when your kids are playing and swimming. There are showers, changing areas and restrooms available, and it is much less crowded then other area beaches. Parking is extremely limited onsite, but additional parking is nearby and a shuttle runs through the area. Coast Guard is around 15 miles away and half an hour drive from the resorts in Dennis Port.

Sandy Neck on Cape Cod

Located in both Sandwich and Barnstable, Sandy Neck in Cape Cod is one of the area’s largest beaches, stretching for 6 miles. It is a place to sit in your chair and wind down, while admiring the sand dunes from afar, or check out the interesting rocks mixed with the sand below you. With a permit and inspection, people can cruise in four wheel drive vehicles right on the beach. There are showers and restrooms available, places to grab a bite to eat, and lifeguards on duty, making it an easy place to visit. To get to the beach, you just have to get on route 6 in East Sandwich, before hopping on Sandy Neck Road to get to West Barnstable, where the public parking lot is. It is only 20 miles or a half hour drive from the Dennis Port Bluegreen resorts. On your visit, you may have an interest in the nearby Sandy Neck Park as well, where walking or even horseback riding trails and hiking paths are available to really see the dunes and views, plus there are plenty of marshes and forests to explore.

Old Silver in Cape Cod

Cape-Cod-Beach-Windsail Falmouth in Cape Cod offers up 10 public beaches, on 12 miles of the shore, including Old Silver. Both residents and the public can explore this beautiful and popular gem. What is so great about this beach is the warm, clear water and soft, white sand. The warm waters of Buzzards Bay and the Vineyard Sound are around 70 degrees in the summer and the temperature continues to stay comfortable even until autumn. You will feel like you have been magically transported from New England to the Caribbean at this picturesque beach. They have convenient amenities like showers and changing areas, as well as concession stands to stock up on food and drink. It is around 30 miles from the resorts in Dennis Port and less than an hour drive.
