Race from your Bluegreen Resort to the Miami Turkey Trot
What could be better than a good, long run in the heat of Miami after a good, long Thanksgiving dinner? Yeah… bad idea. But what would work is a pre-dinner jaunt in the Miami Turkey Trot. Join the largest South Florida Thanksgiving Day during your Bluegreen vacation to The family filled event takes place at Tropical Park on SW 40 Street, and is accompanied by a constant flow of festivities and entertainment. There will be music, vendor booths, after-race awards and kids activities for after their own races.
A canned food drive will also be held onsite that morning, so if you’re feeling charitable, bring some food for some one else’s feast.
Participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt that you can bring home and brag about. Photos of participants are always posted afterwards, and searchable by your race number.
To sign up for the race, visit the Run Miami website. The earlier you sign, the less expensive – and more likely your shirt size will be available.
Tropical Park in Miami is about 20 miles from your Bluegreen resort in Miami, Solara Surfside. A short trip south will get you to the starting line. Just remember, some 4,000 people sign up to walk, run and watch the race, so prepare for traffic. The race starts at 7 am, so leave at least an hour before to battle traffic and get your pre-race jitters out.
And after the race, enjoy the crowd energy and watch the kiddies race. They’re always adorable and energetic. Listen to some music, chat with your fellow competitors and then head back to your Bluegreen resort to enjoy your Thanksgiving Day dinner! Good luck and Happy Thanksgiving!
