Enjoy a Revolutionary Getaway to Historic Locations with Bluegreen

The 4thof July is a time for family reunions, fireworks, reminiscing and good ol’ apple pie with scoops of vanilla ice cream. With Bluegreen, you have the freedom to vacation your way. Declare your independence and plan next year’s vacation with a revolutionary getaway to destinations located within our 13 original colonies.

Massachusetts – Where it all Began
Escape to the Cape and start your vacation off with a bang. The shot heard ‘round the world was fired within earshot of two great Bluegreen  resorts: The Soundings Seaside Resort and The Breakers in Dennis Port, Massachusetts with views of Nantucket Sound. Shoot over to Boston  for a day trip to Faneuil Hall—the place our Founding Fathers called “The  Cradle of Liberty.” This bustling marketplace has been a popular shopping and dining area for more than 250 years. Be sure to listen for Paul Revere’s warning as you travel the historic streets where Minutemen were required to be ready at a moment’s notice to quickly assemble and respond to threats against the colonies.

New Jersey - George Washington ’s crossroad
Welcome to New Jersey, the “Crossroads of the American Revolution.” It is here that George Washington and the Continental Army victoriously crossed the Delaware River in order to help secure and preserve the dreams of our new nation. Cross the Boardwalk at New York Avenue and you’re at Bluegreen’s Atlantic Palace. This resort is perfectly stationed to put you in close proximity to Jockey Hollow in Morristown National Historic Park, the area where Washington and his troops made camp in the winter of 1779. Rally the troops and lead your family to Fort Lee, the fortress built to defend New York City and the Hudson River.

Virginia- The birth of a nation
Since the 17th century, Virginia has played an important role in US history. This historic hotbed of democracy was home to founding fathers such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and James Madison—the men who were instrumental in shaping our nation. For a truly revolutionary vacation, nothing compares to Colonial Williamsburg. This town of yesteryear is one of the most perfectly preserved historic sites in the country complete with exploding cannons and marching militias. Of course, you can still enjoy 21st century accommodations at Bluegreen’s Patrick Henry Square and Parkside Williamsburg.

Bluegreen resort Lodge Alley Inn.South Carolina – Charming Cultural Capital of Charleston
By the end of the Revolutionary War, Charleston was the centermost point for all Atlantic trade. Understandably, the merchants needed space to store their goods. They found Lodge Alley in the French Quarter District of the old walled city of Charleston the perfect area because French Huguenots had already built a series of warehouses near the wharf. This location also gave the merchant landowners convenient access to their ships and docks from their row houses. Today, this collection of warehouses is home to the beautiful Bluegreen resort Lodge Alley Inn.

If you're looking for a fun, family-friendly vacation that is spiked with a bit of history, look into booking a reservation with one of our Bluegreen resorts in one of these great locations. We hope you enjoy your tours of historic homes, buildings and parks. Remember to bring your camera!
