Something truly unique and special exists down in the Florida Keys. It’s a place where the dream of living the island life is a reality. Time slows down, the sun shines brighter, the water is clearer and the only umbrella you’ll need guards the fruit in your frozen cocktail. This is the life, and you can have it all at Bluegreen’s The Hammocks at Marathon.
There’s a world of sunsets, swaying palm trees, comfy hammocks, fishing charters and flip-flops roughly two hours from Miami. Marathon is a picturesque city that encompasses quite a few ‘keys’–Knight’s Key, Boot Key, Key Vaca, Stirrup Key, Long Point Key, Crawl Key and Grassy Key to name a few. Marathon itself was only incorporated in 1999 with its name coming from the grueling pace required of the railroad workers responsible for constructing the railroad through the city. Regardless of its name, Marathon represents the ultimate in tropical relaxation–when you’re not busy sportfishing.

Most Bluegreen vacationers come to the Florida Keys come for obvious reasons. Whether it’s to get some sun, enjoy nature’s finest examples of beauty, or to simply kick back and relax, a trip to the Keys offers one of the most restorative experiences around. But for a large group of guests, sportfishing in the Florida Keys is the name of the game. And guess what? Jerry’s fishing charters and water sports is located right there at the resort. Talk about convenience. Here you’ll find everything you need to make the most of your Keys experience. From deep sea fishing charters and boat rentals, to Jet Skis, snorkeling, bicycles, and kayaks, there’s no reason to go anywhere else during your Bluegreen vacation.
Known as a major sportfishing destination, Marathon features an abundance of natural reefs for some of the absolute best fishing, diving, snorkeling, spearfishing and lobster tickling in the world. If any of these enthralling activities strikes your fancy, they’re strongly encouraged. It would be a shame to miss an opportunity to take advantage of some of the best of the best in fishing and water activities.
Less active activities do exist. Despite the lack of a reputation for having incredible beaches, you can still relax on the sand at Sombrero Beach, not far from the resort. Long Key State Park and Bahia Honda State Park both feature nature’s best in the Florida Keys. Here you can witness some of the breathtaking beauty and all-natural excitement that makes the Florida Keys a top vacation destination. If you’d like to make your Bluegreen vacation unforgettable, head to the
Dolphin Research Center and experience the ultimate thrill of swimming with the dolphins.

Regardless of what you do, you can always come home to Bluegreen's The Hammocks at Marathon. With its lush, tropical entrance and island atmosphere, The Hammocks is like aloe for the soul. You’ll gradually unwind as you find your way from the glass-enclosed lobby through the palm tree, hammock and tiki torch-dotted landscape to your amazing Bluegreen island vacation villa. Step out onto your private balcony for refreshing ocean breezes, beautiful blue water and innocently intriguing wildlife. Enjoy it all in the comfort of this home-away-from-home. Head down to Barnacle Barney’s and join the other island-goers for a famous Sunset Celebration Punch, Fresh Bahamian Conch Fritters, Barney’s Conch Chowder (the best on the island), or bring your own fresh catch after a fishing trip with Jerry’s Charters and we’ll cook it to your liking. Yes, this is a tropical paradise about 50 miles from the United States’ southernmost point–and it’s all yours to enjoy.

My daughter & I flew to the Florida Keys, rented a car & drove to Marathon, which is about 1 hour from the airport. It was wonderful. We took a whole day & vistited the town & shops in the Keys & then another day to visit Miami. The crystal blue ocean with all the amenities at the pool with a Tiki Bar was right at your fingertips, along with a shop within walking distance for the fishermen. The view itself was relaxing. We also visited the dolphins, that was an unforgetable experience. Everyone around there was so warm & friendly. It was an experience that my daughter & I will never forget.
Totally satisfied
