After four decades, the
New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival has grown into a premier event that offers great food, crafts, and music to visitors and locals alike. Striking a chord with all who visit, New Orleans is the place to be where the good times roll. New Orleans music fans are treated to this huge yearly event that covers two spring weekends in late April/early May. Hundreds of all-star performers flock to the 12 stages of the historic Fair Grounds Race Course to put on one of the best shows of the year. You will surely hit the right note when you attend this music festival during your visit to Bluegreen Club La Pension.

Along with Mardi Gras and the French Quarter, New Orleans Jazz Fest continues to offer reasons why the Big Easy remains one of the most popular destinations for a Bluegreen vacation year after year. The festival began in 1970 in an effort to honor the great history of jazz in New Orleans. As Jazz Fest has grown, the musical genres have too. Music lovers can expect to hear blues, gospel, soul/R&B, country, hip hop and rock and roll in addition to the traditional jazz music that Southerners have come to know and love. In addition to the musical acts, culture and food play a big role in the festivities during this celebration.
From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the days of the festival, musical artists perform on multiple stages at the same time for non-stop music action. In the past, musical legends Simon & Garfunkel, Pearl Jam, Lionel Richie and Aretha Franklin graced the stage at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.
More than 300 regionally and nationally acclaimed artists travel to New Orleans to showcase their diverse work during the festival. Four distinct event venues are available for your viewing pleasure. Art from Africa is featured at Congo Square. At Contemporary Crafts, you will be able to view intricate handcrafted clothing, hand-blown glass and striking leather goods. Traditional and contemporary artists are highlighted in the Louisiana Marketplace, where whimsical jewelry and hand-colored photographs are sold.
At the Food Fair, be sure to sample some mouthwatering New Orleans classic Creole and Cajun cuisine. Feast your eyes on the delectable food selections like shrimp and okra gumbo, crawfish bisque and Creole stuffed crab.
New Orleans Jazz Fest is held just minutes from downtown and the French Quarter. During your New Orleans vacation, treat yourself to fantastic food, unique crafts, and powerhouse musical performances down in the Big Easy, the birthplace of jazz.
