Even if you were taking a month-long Bluegreen vacation to
The Manhattan Club in
New York City, you would still not be able to see, participate in and sample everything in the city. A city that never sleeps never runs out of entertainment. A light is always on, someone is always speaking, singing or whispering, and music is always playing somewhere in NYC. Knowing this, it is hard to fathom where to start during your journey through New York City. Bluegreen’s advice? To start with the basics. Or the bases, if you want to keep with the Yankees lingo. Here are our top 10 things to do in NYC.
1. Yankee Stadium
While the original stadium was home to some of baseball’s greatest, such as Lou Gehrig, Mickey Mantle, and of course, Babe Ruth, their memories live on in the new venue, built in 2009. If you can get tickets, catch a game and experience what millions of Yankees fans get to participate in each season. If you miss the season, or don’t have time for a game,
take a tour of the Yankee Stadium.
2. Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

It’s almost an American duty to see the Statue of Liberty. As Ellis Island is the most historic American port, the Statue of Liberty is the most celebrated sign of freedom. A gift from the French, the Statue of Liberty has become the symbol of American pride and rights, and is well worth the visit.
3. Ground Zero
A place that represents many things, from sorrow to growth and American values, Ground Zero is a penetrating site to see. Sign up for the
Ground Zero Museum Workshop, a tour that is both moving and educational.
4. Times Square
While it is crowded, pushy and loud,
Times Square is a tourist must. Insanely tall buildings, plastered with innovative, in-your-face ads, crowds of people pushing to be seen on whatever show/film is being filmed, and a Toys R Us store that beats any other toy store you’ve ever seen.
5. Top of the Rock (Rockefeller Plaza)

Catchy, huh? Head to the
Top of the Rock Observation Deck on the 67
th, 69
th and 70
th floors of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Once on top, you will see one of the most impressive views of one of the most impressive cities in the world. If you’re having a romantic evening, it’s open until midnight.
6. Radio City Music Hall
An ornate, over the top representation of what Rockefeller saw in this grand city, Radio City Music Hall is a historic site that is still filled with entertainment.
7. Central Park

Central Park is one of America’s most famous parks, its notoriety based upon many movie appearances, celebrity references, cultural events, the zoo and overall sanctuary it provides from the race that is New York City. Go take your shoes off and walk through a grassy patch in Central Park.
8. Metropolitan Museum of Art
The Met offers one of the most impressive collections of artifacts and artworks in the world. It will take an entire day to go through, if you really want to see everything, so wear comfy shoes.
9. Chinatown
Chinatown is for shopping, haggling and finding knockoffs. Walk through this bright, busy and eclectic city to find something to eat and drink, a new bag and maybe a festival or two.
10. Pizza Joints
Impeccable pies can be found at Lombardi’s Pizzeria on Spring Street and Grimaldi’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn. You really have to have a NY pizza while staying in NYC.

What accommdations from Bluegreen are available in Niagara Falls, NY as well as Niagara Falls, Ont? My family of three are planning to make this trip the 2nd week of June 2012. Can you assist me? Thank you.

Unfortunately the closest resort we have to that area is in New York City. I hope your trip goes great though!
We recently went to New York for the first time and were very happy with our accomodations at The Manhatten Club as well as its central location. Three blocks to Central Park, Time Square around the corner, close subway access, great restaurants, etc. Must book tour shuttle “NY see it all” with Brooklyn Jim – very informative, fun, and you get to see all of NY highlights in one afternoon.
