Taste of Charleston Festival


The Taste of Charleston Festival, featuring 50 area restaurants, offers up everything from Cajun chicken and roasted red pepper pasta to scrumptious seafood and Mexican wraps. The top chefs from the city cook up a celebration of southern lowcountry cuisine at its finest. The annual festival takes place October 8-10, 2010, and is being hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association.

The 30th annual Taste of Charleston, scheduled for October 7-9, 2011, is a three-day celebration of Lowcountry cuisine, hosted by the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association. Southeastern Tourism Society has signified the Charleston festival as one of the "Top 20 events in the Southeast" for over 20 years running. With an expected attendance number of more than 10,000 people, you won't want to miss all that will be going on at this charity fundraising event.

Nawlins (New Orleans)
This year, The Taste of Charleston will expand from three to four events, including a two-day main event at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant. On Friday, October 7, the Taste – Iron Chef Competition will pit some of the area's best chefs against each other in a lively cooking battle similar to the hit TV show. The chefs crank up the burners and cook head-to-head in the state-of-the-art amphitheater kitchen at the Culinary Institute of Charleston's Palmer Campus, located in downtown Charleston.

On Saturday evening, between 6 pm and 8 pm, works from about a dozen art galleries will be on display on Broad Street in downtown Charleston. The art walk showcases local talent and their artistic masterpieces, all accompanied by food and wine samplings proivided by local eateries.

Nawlins (New Orleans)
The main event, simply called Southern Living Taste of Charleston, will be held on Saturday and Sunday at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant. The culinary creations and delectable delights from approximately 50 of Charleston's best restaurants will be at the event, serving samples of signature dishes. The event's host, Southern Living, will be represented through editor appearances, editorial-inspired vignettes, demonstrations and other events.

This Charleston event is one of the largest food and wine festivals in the country, and popular among all culinary enthusiasts. The Bluegreen resort, The Lodge Alley Inn, located in downtown Charleston, always expects a surge of guests who expect to attend one, if not all, of the weekend's events.
