Boyne, Michigan is known for its ability to provide great outdoor activities for every season. As Boyne Mountain and Bluegreen's resort, Mountain Run at Boyne, hosts a slew of skiers, snowboarders and winter enthusiasts through the chilly season, the types of visitors morph when the snow starts to melt and the trees reawaken. When the trees begin to bud and the baby birds begin to chirp, mountain bikes make their return.
Northern Michigan sees an abundance of mountain bikers, of all skill levels, on its trails throughout the year. Boyne offers trails for everyone, from paved ways along scenic roads to demanding cross-country courses. Take the chairlift at Boyne Mountain to the top and drop down on the newly paved trail system for an easy ride. Or, opt for the rugged mountain trails and test your strength. There is a 9½ mile cross-country course on the mountain that was developed for racing events such as the “24 Hours of Boyne.” It climbs up and winds through the mountain to its peak before descending down the backside toward the Alpine Monument Pro Shop near Deer Lake. There are also plenty of other trails on the back of the mountain – a full 32.5 miles of marked routes. Just grab a map from the outpost to find one you like.
