From Cibola to the Snowbowl: An Arizona Ski Trip

Even though you are planning on a Bluegreen vacation to the Phoenix desert this winter, that doesn’t mean you have to miss out on slopes. About two hours north of Peoria, Arizona – home of Cibola Vista Resort & Spa – is Flagstaff Arizona, a hip city with a ski vibe. If you’ve decided you want to ski in Arizona this winter, The Arizona Snowbowl is the place to go.

The peak season to ski in Flagstaff lasts from December through mid-April. Miles upon miles of scenic trails, 2,300 feet of vertical drop and a wide variety of challenging runs make the Arizona Snowbowl a popular place to visit. If you’re a beginner, have no fear; this is a great place for beginners, as the bowl’s 50 acres house bunny slopes as well as some big boy rides. The Snowbowl also offers lessons in group and private settings, so don’t be scared! Skiing and snowboarding are sports that will keep you entertained, in shape and always on your toes.

Kids can participate in the popular SKIwee or Ridge Runner programs, which will show them how to have fun and stay safe on the slopes.

Two chairlifts take skiers and boarders up the slopes, so pick your place of practice and jump on. Whether you choose the Hart Prarie for beginners or one of the other 32 scenic Alpine trails, you’ll be sure to enjoy yourself.

At only two hours north of Bluegreen’s Cibola Vista Resort & Spa, you can spend an afternoon at the Snowbowl and be home for a warm dinner in your Bluegreen vacation villa. Or, if you want to make a mini-vacation out of the ski thing, Arizona Snowbowl has lodging.

Ski Lift Lodges and Cabins offer cozy and comfy places to stay during a trip to the Arizona Snowbowl. Just to let you know though, there are only 25 rooms total, so if you are thinking to, or planning on, a night or two stay, call ahead. Way ahead. The lodge also offers nightly dinner specials, at unexpectedly low rates.

If you can’t get into a cabin at the Arizona Snowbowl, don’t fret. There are plenty of other places to stay in Flagstaff. But like we said, the Bluegreen resort is near enough to make the drive a day trip. And with the unsurpassed luxury and comfort of Cibola Vista Resort & Spa, that may be your best bet!
