Las Vegas is a destination for many kinds of Bluegreen vacations, including gaming, food and wine and outdoor adventures, thanks to the strip, surrounding streets and nearby Mojave Desert. What is also nearby, yet often overlooked, is a huge mountain that proves stupendous for skiing. Deep within the
Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest lies Mt. Charleston. Skiing in Nevada is a popular winter pastime for residents, but most tourists often overlook the possibility, due to the mesmerizing
Las Vegas lights. This winter, do like the locals do and go skiing in Nevada!

At only an hour away from
Bluegreen Club 36,
Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort offers an annual average of 140 inches of snow, 300+ days of sunshine and 11 trails, wide open for beginners, pretty good-ers and pros. Four lifts, 2 double chairs, 1 triple and 1 surface, take skiers and boarders up the slopes for hours upon hours of powder time. Base elevation starts at 8,510 feet and raises to 9,310 at the first stop and 9,370 at the peak. An 860-foot vertical drop will show you a great ride and 2300 feet of hiking routes will show you the surrounding beauty. The longest (and best) run is 3000 feet. So, strap on your skis and hit the slopes!
There is also a spot on the mountain strictly for boarders, called the Dark Side. Full of ramps, slides and jumps to try your skills, the park has a 20-foot Down Box and Down Single Barrel Rail on Stair Set; Flat Down Creeper Box, 20-foot Double Barrel Flat Rail; Rainbow Box; and Triple King Combo Rail; among many, many others. This is the spot for the extreme sports enthusiast in you.
If you realize you've forgotten some of your gear for the trip, The Sports Shop will round up everything you need. The shop's got any equipment and sundries, including warm clothing, you may have forgotten, for purchase or rental.

If you've had a full day on the mountain, hit The Big Horn Café or The Bristlecone for some recharging. Food, drinks and warm spirits will heat you back up and either get you ready for another run, or mellow you out for the ride home.
Rates for rentals and lifts are moderately priced. For more information, visit the Las Vegas Ski & Snowboard Resort website.
Ask your Bluegreen concierge at Bluegreen Club 36 about any discounts as well, as they sometimes know of special offers and rates through the season that you would not know of otherwise. We hope you have fun on the slopes!
