Make a splash and swim with the dolphins on a visit to
Marineland during your next Bluegreen vacation to historic St. Augustine. The “world’s first oceanarium” once served as a key underwater filming studio dating back to the 1930’s. The first Florida marine mammal park now sports a super-sized 1.3 million gallon facility dedicated to the preservation of the dolphin.
Marineland is not your average theme park. While the park now functions as a dolphin conservation center and educational training facility, Bluegreen vacationers can still visit the attraction for pure entertainment. You won’t find dolphins jumping through hoops and performing circus routines. Instead, you will get to take advantage of a more personal approach that focuses on interaction. Join the animals in their natural habitats and form a lasting physical and emotional bond.
Although you are able to watch the dolphins swim and play in their massive tanks, the exciting part is that various programs like The Quest, The Immersion, and Discover Dolphins allow you to have a more personal, hands-on interaction with the dolphins. You are paired up with professional Marineland staff and educated on the proper techniques for swimming with the dolphins. Once completed, you put those skills to the test by exploring the water with the mammals.
Great for kids on Bluegreen vacations, the Dolphin Designs program allows participants to work hand-in-hand with a dolphin to paint on a canvas. Participants choose the colors and the dolphin does the painting. The result is a beautiful work of art that you can take home as a souvenir. Find out firsthand what it’s like to work with dolphins in the “Trainer-For-A-Day” program. You’ll hone news skills like preparing foods, feeding the animals and observing and tracking animal behaviors.
The setting at Marineland is picturesque and serene, with the dolphins swimming in front of you and the majestic Atlantic Ocean crashing waves behind you. The extremely knowledgeable staff makes for a pleasurable visit as your spend personal time feeding and interacting with dolphins. Next time you are on a Bluegreen vacation in St. Augustine, be sure to check out Marineland for a truly unique water experience.
