If you're looking for a great Bluegreen vacation experience, you probably already know that you have access to a plethora of places to stay. What you may not be aware of, though, is that you also have access to a wonderful community of people - Bluegreen owners who want to share their experiences and help each other plan their vacations. Hearing what others have to say about different vacation destinations and accommodations is helpful, and can help you to decide whether or not you're interested in trying something new.
So that's what we did. We asked a few Bluegreen owners about their glamping experience at Shenandoah Crossing.
Even if you have only seen pictures of this Shenandoah Valley resort, you won't be surprised to find that the first responses from those interviewed were in reference to the scenery. After mentioning the beauty of the area, the conversation turned to the uniqueness of the yurt. While it was the novelty of glamping that drew the Bluegreen owners in, it was the comfortable, homey feel that kept them happy.
Mr. Robert Nitschneider, of Trout Valley, Illinois, explained that the cozy country décor made him feel at home. When asked about what made him so comfortable in this home away from home, he mentioned particulars that are recognizable to all of us. He described simple details that make us happy which we often take for granted. As he recollected his experience at Shenandoah Crossing, he explained, "Every morning I sat outside on the deck with my coffee, which was nice." He then thought for a minute and carried on the conversation with, "Every night I grilled outside, which was nice," adding that the niceties he is accustomed to within his own home were present within the yurt and kept him comfortable during his stay.

He reported that the beds were comfortable and the amenities were up to par. The interior stayed cool against the hot August sun. Mr. Nitschneider explained that rolling up the outer window shades provided abundant light for the day, and at night he and his wife relaxed on the sofa and watched TV. Mr. Nitschneider admitted it was his first time to staying in a yurt, although he had vacationed at Bluegreen's Shenandoah Crossing multiple times. He explained it was his favorite resort.
Other Bluegreen owners reported similar reviews on the yurts. Dot, from Taylors, South Carolina, explained that the uniqueness of the yurt was what drew her in. She said that Internet reviews and stories on glamping in yurts persuaded her to try it out. She elaborated on the beauty of the Shenandoah Valley and described the interior of the yurt, adding, "They have everything." She explained that the only thing you need to bring on your trip is the food you plan to eat.
Dot, who has been a Bluegreen owner since 2003, plans on giving a yurt vacation in Shenandoah Crossing to her daughter next year.
And everyone had suggestions for things to do when visiting Shenandoah Crossing.
Mr. Nitschneider recommended a few vineyards, and even went out of his way to find the bottle of a wine he and his wife purchased during their trip so we could tell you the vineyard where it was bought. During his most recent trip to Shenandoah Crossing, he, his wife and some friends visited Horton Vineyards, about 30 minutes away, and Sweeley Estates, a bit further at 45 minutes away from the resort. And that bottle of wine he grabbed? It was a 2006 Chardonnay from Acorn Hill Winery, the former name of Sweeley Estates.
Overall, the reviews on staying in a yurt at the Bluegreen resort, Shenandoah Crossing were positive and full of ideas of places to go and things to see. Lots of people enjoyed the outdoor kitchen and many enjoyed the modern conveniences that were unexpectedly provided within these tent-like structures. Many Bluegreen owners plan, and look forward to, reserving a yurt at Shenandoah Crossing again. Some explained that next time they will reserve a yurt at the back of the resort, in attempts to acquire a bit more privacy.
