Boyne Mountain, near Bluegreen’s Michigan ski resort Mountain Run, boasts a cornucopia of activities for all seasons. The Midwest’s largest ski area is probably best known for its winter sports, where visitors on a Boyne Mountain vacation can go slippin’ and slidin' on snow tubes or enjoy the quiet solace of snowshoeing in the wintry wonderland. At the top of the list of cold weather activities is, of course, skiing. The ski trails of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula offer a variety of skill levels for the expert skier on down to the eager novice.

Different Difficulties for All Levels on Boyne Mountain

The ski trails on Boyne Mountain are broken down into color ratings based in skill level and difficulty. The trails that make up the Green Circle are wide, well groomed and offer a gentle slope. Audie’s Alley, Doc’s Canal, Hilda’s Hideaway, Top Notch and Zippies are the Boyne Mountain beginner’s ski slopes. The Blue Square intermediate trails offer steeper skiing, but are not too difficult for the average skier. Blue Square trails have easy moguls and glades. You will find Blue Square trails Aurora, Bog Sled, Mr. Moll, Stein’s Mambo, and To Disciples Ridge at Boyne Mountain.

Advanced skiers tackle the Black Diamond ski trails, which are steep, narrow, and at times, poorly groomed. Icy conditions can result in this ski rating, which includes the Center McLouth, Dl's Drop, Idiot's Delight, Super Bowl and The Meadows ski trails. Double Black Diamond trails represent the toughest trails at Boyne Mountain. The Devil's Dive, Nose Dive, The Bowl Rail Yard, Skier/Boarder Cross and North Boyne Park are rated Double Black Diamond. These ski trails are reserved for expert skiers only. Hazards include difficult moguls, glades and extremely steep slopes, and skiers should proceed with caution at all times.
