Area InfoDepending on when you visit, there’s a host of planned activities for all ages to help you make the most of your great outdoors vacation, including bonfires, haunted trail walks, storytelling and a variety of crafts.
Watership Harbour is our pool and recreation area located near Friendship Square pavilion. Complete with expansive main pool, an activity pool, two hot tubs and an interactive spray ground, this “mini water park” is fun for all ages. The main lodge also offers an indoor and outdoor pool and kids’ pool with a lake view.
Friendship Square features a general store, the Trader’s Deli, and Freedom Hall where movies and the Musket Ball Dance are held. There are also plenty of arts and crafts for the whole family, an arcade, fitness center, giant chessboard, sports courts and equipment rental.
At Nickajack Park adults can play horseshoes while the kids enjoy the playscape. Nearby Makepeace Station hosts organized hikes and excursions. Trails are interactive and play host to kids’ games, colonial trivia, wildlife education, and ghost tours. Guest storytellers, lectures, sing-a-longs and many other activities also take place in the Liberty Amphitheater.
Sallie’s Stables and our Equestrian Center have over two-dozen trail horses take you into the woods and across the historic fields.
Speaking of history, the surrounding area is often called the “Cradle of Democracy” because three of the first U.S. presidents once lived within three miles of each other here. A short drive and a nice trip back in time will bring you to Monticello, the famous home of Thomas Jefferson; Montpelier, James Madison’s home; and James Monroe’s Ash Lawn. One look at any of these homes and you’ll soon see why they attract visitors year after year.
There’s another tasty attraction in the area that will quench your thirst for vacation experiences. Local vineyards and wineries dot the landscape of the surrounding countryside. Day trips are encouraged and tours of both the vineyards and the wineries will give you a chance to not only get a feel for the industry, but a taste as well; enjoy!

This resort probably has more activities than any of the other resorts we’ve been to. Also, the golf course is very nice. Our cabin was very nice and clean. Although there are many accomodations to choose from and they look like they are very close together, Shenandoah Crossing must have carefully planned the layout because they are very private. My husband and I were there in April. I would highly recommend this resort for families. The pool looked very inviting. The next time we visit we want to experience a Yurt! Also, it has a very nice RV park. I would give it ****.
Thanks for the compliments! We’re so glad you had a nice stay. The yurts are a hot item, and come highly recommended. Hope to have you back soon!
This past weekend we stayed at Shenandoah Crossing for the second time this past weekend! Love Love LOVE this place! The first time we were in the open floor plan yurt and this time the 2 bedroom yurt. I expected the outdoor pools/hot tubs to be closed, and much to my suprise it was open!!! Great all around experience both times. Can’t wait to visit again! Now only if I could talk my husband into purchasing a time share…where can I find information? :O)

We look forward to having you again.
We have been staying at Shenandoah Crossing since 1988, the cabins and resort
in general have been greatly upgraded and improved since we first started staying there, it is halfway to Longwood University In Farmville, Va. The
entire town of Gordonsville has improved their downtown also over the past
24 hrs. I always wished we could stay more than a week-end.Peaceful, relaxing, staff is so nice and helpful. Enjoy, We have for many years.
My Family and I have been Blue Green members for the past 8 years. We have been to several resorts up and down the East Coast, hands down this is our favorite. If rest and relaxtion is what you need, the crossings provide that for you. Majority of the time our kids want to go 100 miles per hour, the staff is always there to assist and have numerous activities to keep them engaged.
We always have a great time at this resort, and will continue to visit this family vacation spot.
