Shrimp and Jazz in Myrtle Beach

Bluegreen Vacations to Myrtle Beach, without a doubt, should include eating shrimp at one point or another. Why, you ask? Because they are caught in the bays, bayous and marshes of Myrtle Beach and surrounding areas – making them as local as you can get when it comes to eating local food. And, because, shrimp are good. In all forms. Myrtle Beach appreciates the abundance of these little guys, and their importance to the area's culture and commerce. They even celebrate shrimp, with an Annual Little River Shrimp and Jazz Festival. Each October, the Little River Chamber of Commerce hosts this shindig, which is full of great food, music, arts and times.

2011 marks the 7th year the festival has graced the streets of Little River. Over the past seven years, the festival has thankfully grown and become a yearly event locals and visitors look forward to. And this festival is no small deal, as the 2011 music lineup includes Tim Reynolds, Kat Reynolds, and the bands Bonerama, G. Love and the Special Sauce and Galactic. More musicians will grace the stage as well, during the two-day celebration of all things good in Myrtle Beach.

Local restaurants will have booths set up along the waterfront to serve you the area's best seafood and shrimp appetizers and entrees. Beverage stands will also be sprinkled throughout, serving ice-cold beers and wine and music will be wafting through the sights, sounds and smells of the area. Stands with local vendors' arts and crafts are to be expected as well, giving attendees even more to enjoy and purchase.

Little River is about 20-25 miles away from Myrtle Beach, dependent upon the route traveled. Just hop on Hwy 17 North and you will find  yourself in the beautiful Lowcountry town of Little River.

If you have questions or need help with directions to get to the Little River Shrimp and Jazz festival during your Bluegreen vacation to Myrtle Beach, feel free to ask your concierge for assistance. All Bluegreen resorts, Shore Crest Vacation Villas, SeaGlass Tower, Carolina Grande and Harbour Lights, offer luxurious and spacious vacation villas to enjoy before and after attending the festival.
